WHY: Hair Aid - Philippines Project January 2023
The purpose of this event is to raise much needed funds that will help change people’s lives in the Philippines forever. The day will include live haircutting demonstrations from all of the AREA Academy team. There will be a showcase of about 4-6 modern looks with a photoshoot component at the end, in which we will be explaining throughout.
This will be an opportunity to learn the latest haircutting skills whilst also contributing to an extremely worthwhile cause. This will also be an opportunity to network ands socialise with the larger hair community in Melbourne and beyond as there will be some special guests in town for the AMBA Awards that evening.
More about the project we’re fundraising for:
On January 9th 2023 a small team of us (6) will be joining the Hair Aid Charity in Manila, The Philippines to change people’s lives. We will be volunteering at a men’s prison for 5 days in which we will be teaching the people there how to cut hair.
The training that we will be providing here means that when the men are released, they have an opportunity to use a skill to earn honest money and not return to drugs or other criminal activity.
This is a complete non-for-profit initiative therefore we each need to raise roughly $4000 each to cover our travel, accommodation and costs to get there.
